Cal State San Marcos’ Breann Horn garners Women’s Golfer of the Week honor

Breann Horn was the top CCAA finisher as the Cal State San Marcos star picked up the season’s first Women’s Golfer of the Week award.

Horn carded a 1-under 143 at the RJGA Shootout at Estrella in Goodyear, Ariz., leading the Cougars to a second place finish in the team competition.

The junior from Lakeside shot a 70 on Monday and finished with a 73 on Tuesday. She had a 3-under score on Tuesday entering the final hole before ending up three back of the medalist for third place. Horn scored seven birdies over 36 holes. 

No. 14 Cal State San Marcos opened the season with a +13, 589 team tally, finishing one behind tournament winner Arkansas-Fort Smith.

This is Horn’s sixth career CCAA Golfer of the Week award. She earned the honor four times over the course of the 2021-22 season and once during her freshman campaign in 2019.

Cal State San Marcos travels to Albuquerque, N.M., for its next tournament, the Nick Turner Invitational, on Oct. 17-18.
