Cal State Dominguez Hills’ Andy Yoon captured this week’s honor as the Men’s Golfer of the Week, for the week of Sept. 21-27.

Yoon shot an impressive 8-under 208 to tie for first at the WWU Invitational at Bellingham Golf & Country Club. He lost the first playoff hole to Edvin Backstrom of Holy Names for the individual title.

The sophomore from Cypress led Cal State Dominguez Hills to second place finish in the tournament behind only host Western Washington. 

Yoon started the final round four shots back of the leader and scored a 2-under 70 in the final round on Tuesday for a chance for the tournament title. He had shot a pair of 69s on Monday during the first two rounds.

In all, Yoon turned in 12 birdies with an eagle when he eagled the No. 1 in round two on Monday.

CSUDH’s next event is the Sharks Shootout hosted by Hawaii Pacific in Wahiawa, Hawaii, Oct. 25-26.
