Cal Poly Pomona’s Daisy Duke continues her dominance, putting away kills at a rapid rate, as she’s been named the Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, for the third consecutive week.
Duke, who garnered the latest award for the week of Sept. 19-25, smashed 33 more kills while hitting .355 to lead the No. 23 Broncos to two more wins on the road. Duke averaged 4.13 kills per set with 14 digs and 3 assisted blocks in the matches at Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State LA.
The junior opposite hitter from Rancho Cucamonga spiked 13 kills (13-3-29, .345) with nine digs on Friday at CSUDH. On Saturday, Duke put-away 20 kills (20-3-47, .362) with five digs and two assisted blocks during a five-set thriller at Cal State LA. It was her second 20-kill match this season.
This is Duke’s third consecutive offensive player of the week award and her fourth straight honor after she earned the Defensive Player of the Week honor, Sept. 6. In all, she now has seven CCAA player of the week awards in the last two seasons.
Duke continues to lead the CCAA with 3.98 kills per set and 4.55 points per set. She has the third best hitting percentage of .363, which is best among non-middle blockers.
Cal Poly Pomona (12-1) takes its 12-match winning streak into the weekend as the Broncos host Cal State East Bay and Cal State San Marcos.
