Jack Emanuel of Chico State is Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week

Jack Emanuel of Chico State has been named the Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, for the week of Sept. 18-25, after leading the Wildcats in their season opening race.

Emanuel placed second, and was the top CCAA finisher, at the Cougar Challenge at Cal State San Marcos in a time of 24:19.8. Emanuel led No. 5 Chico State to a run-away team victory with 32 points, 38 points better than runner-up Azusa Pacific.

APU’s Nixon Korir won the 8K run on Saturday in 24:16.6.

Emanuel, who hails from Chico, was one of five Wildcats to finish among the top 10.  Emanuel’s time was nearly 30 seconds faster than his previous best on the course, a 24:50.3 which netted him a fourth-place finish at the 2021 CCAA Championships. His runner-up finish was Emanuel’s best collegiate cross country finish.

Next race on the schedule for Chico State is the Bronco Invitational, on Oct. 15, at Santa Clara.
