Cal State Monterey Bay’s Amelia McManus was voted the CCAA Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 12-18.

The sophomore forward scored both goals in the Otters’ 2-1 win at Cal State Dominguez Hill, including the game-winner with 30 seconds remaining.

McManus gave Cal State Monterey Bay its first lead with a goal in the 73rd minute on a double assist from Jazmine Casteneda and Tiger Rendon. The Toros would find the equalizer in the 80th minute to set up the heroic finish by McManus.

Following a missed clear by the Toros, Mitsy Ramirez found Elizabeth Kobrine open on the right side of the goal, and she laid a pas across the mouth of the goal where McManus slid in with the finish.

It was the third win in the last five contests for Cal State Monterey Bay, closing out its non-conference schedule at 3-2-2.

McManus is the first CCAA weekly award winner since Brenda Uribe captured the Player of the Week honor for the week of Oct. 4-10, 2021.

Cal State Monterey Bay will open its conference season on the road this weekend. The Otters will travel to Cal State LA on Friday, Sept. 23 and to Cal Poly Pomona for another contest on Sunday, Sept. 25.
