CSUSB's Aiden Hanes wins the CCAA Defensive Player of the Week award Sep 20, 2022 Share: Complete list of weekly winners >>> For his efforts in helping the Yotes earn three decisions last week, Cal State San Bernardino’s Aiden Hanes has been selected as the CCAA Defensive Player of the Week. (Sept. 12-18) Hanes played in the first two contests of the week where he played all 180 minutes and faced 24 shots. He allowed just one goal while making 14 saves. The junior from Riverside opened the week by making six stops in a 1-1 tie on the road against Biola. The only goal he allowed was an own-goal. Hanes then made a season-high eight saves to defeat previously-ranked Azusa Pacific on the road 1-0. Three saves came in the final 20 minutes, including a game-clincher with 65 seconds to go. The San Diego State transfer now ranks second in NCAA Division II with a .929 save percentage and ninth with a .400 goals against average. Hanes is averaging 5.2 saves per contest and his three shutouts have him tied for 12th nationally. Hanes is the first Yote to collect CCAA weekly honors in men’s soccer since Gerardo Flores on Oct. 7-13, 2019. Cal State San Bernardino completed its non-conference schedule with an unbeaten record (3-0-2). The Yotes will open conference play this week by hosting Stanislaus State on Friday and Cal State East Bay on Sunday.
