Alexis Wallace of Cal State San Bernardino repeats as the Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, this time for the week of Sept. 12-18.
Wallace followed her stellar CCAA debut last week with another victory on Saturday at the Otter Invitational, which is also dubbed as a CCAA championship preview. Wallace, a graduate student from Orangevale, clocked in at a personal best time of 22:10.7 in the 6K race.
The event was held at the Palo Corona Cross Country Trail in Carmel. The Otter Invite, hosted by Cal State Monterey Bay, was the new course’s first collegiate race.
Wallace led CSUSB to a second place team finish behind host Cal State Monterey Bay. San Francisco State, the only other CCAA team to participate, was third. Wallace finished ahead of second place Lisa Irvine of CSUMB by 50 seconds.
Last week Wallace made her CSUSB debut at the Coyote Challenge, where she won the 5K competition in 18:24.2. She was named the CCAA Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for that performance last week.
The Palo Corona Cross Country Trail will serve as the site of the 2022 CCAA Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Championships on Nov. 5.
The Coyotes will race for the third consecutive Saturday as they travel to take part in the Cougar Challenge in San Marcos.
