Baumgardt makes it consecutive CCAA Defensive Player of the Week honors for the Toros

Defender Zane Baumgardt gave Cal State Dominguez Hills its second consecutive CCAA Defensive Player of the Week award. (Sept. 5-11)

Baumgardt helped lead CSUDH to two shutouts on the road as the Toros improved to 6-0-0 on the season. It is the fourth shutout of the season for Dominguez Hills and the second time it has posted back-to-back shutout wins. The sophomore played a team-high 168 minutes as an outside back.

On the weekend, the Toros outscored their opponents 5-0 and allowed only four shots on goal. They lead the CCAA and rank third in NCAA Division II with a plus-15 goal differential. Dominguez Hills is also sixth in the country in save percentage (.913) and goals against average (.333). 

Baumgardt takes over as the reigning CCAA Defensive Player of the Week from his teammate, David Aguilera. It also marks the third time in three weeks that the Toros have collected a CCAA weekly honor. Click here to see the complete list

This week, CSUDH will face Cal State Monterey Bay in a non-conference match on Saturday, Sept. 17, in Carson. The No. 7 ranked Toros will open conference play on Sept. 23 at No. 11 Cal Poly Pomona.
