Cal State San Bernardino’s Alexis Wallace has been selected as the Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, for the week of Sept. 5-11.

In her CSUSB debut, Wallace won the Yotes’ own Coyote Challenge on Saturday, racing to a personal best time of 18:24.2 in the 5K race on the campus of CSUSB.

Wallace, a graduate transfer from University of Redlands, lowered her personal best by 21 seconds. Her previous best was 18:45, finishing fifth at the UC Riverside Highlander Invitational 5K in 2021 for Redlands.

The time is also a new course record, which she had previously set as a member of the Redlands team. Wallace, who is from Orangevale, had posted a time of 19:19 a year ago at the same event.

Wallace is the first Yote to earn the weekly award since Sept. 17, 2018 when Michelle Pineda Palacios was named the runner of the week.

Next up for the Coyotes is the CCAA conference preview meet hosted by Cal State Monterey Bay in Seaside on Sept. 17.
