Chico State’s Mikayla Robertson claimed the first CCAA Offensive Player of the Week award for the 2022 season. (Aug. 22-28)

The sophomore forward was still on the hunt for her first career points when she re-entered the match against Academy of Art in the 61st minute. Robertson assisted on Natalie Mendoza’s goal in the 68th minute and scored her first two collegiate goals in the 70th and 72nd minute, finishing off the Wildcats’ 6-0 victory with a flourish.

Her first collegiate goal came after she slammed a shot off the crossbar. She stayed engaged and left-footed a pass from Jiana Martin into the back of the net. Robertson completed the scoring just two minutes after that. She stole a pass, dribbled to the penalty kick area, and beat the charging keeper low inside the right post.

The Ladera Ranch native played 28 minutes off the bench and tallied her brace and an assist in the span of four minutes and 31 seconds. The effort earned Robertson more minutes Sunday. She saw 31 minutes of action in Sunday’s scoreless draw at Fresno Pacific.

It is the first career CCAA weekly honor for Robertson. Last year, Chico State tallied two Player of the Week awards (Madison Parsons, Emma Hofmann).

Robertson and the Wildcats will be back on the road this week, facing Central Washington Thursday (Sept. 1) at 1 p.m. and Seattle Pacific Saturday (Sept. 3) at 4 p.m.
