San Francisco State setter Kimberly DeBoer is the recipient of the inaugural CCAA Setter of the Week award after directing the Gators to a 2-2 start.
DeBoer earned All-Tournament team honors at the Magic Island Classic as she led the Gators to wins over Western Oregon and Hawaii Hilo. SF State’s two losses were against nationally ranked teams #21 Lewis and #25 Chaminade.
A sophomore from Murrieta, DeBoer accumulated 152 assists with a pair of 40-plus-assist five-set matches. In all she averaged 9.5 assists per set.
After opening the season with 32 assists in a straight set win over Western Oregon, DeBoer tallied 25 against Lewis on Friday in the tournament at Honolulu. On Saturday, DeBoer dished 46 assists while guiding the Gators to a five-set win over Hawaii Hilo. In the fourth match of the weekend, DeBoer recorded a career-high 49 assists in a thriller versus Chaminade.
DeBoer also had 19 kills, hitting .474 on the attack with 22 digs, three service aces and three total blocks in four matches.
In 2021, as a redshirt freshman, DeBoer had one match with 40 assists or more on Oct. 14 at Cal State Monterey Bay.
SF State will participate in the Seaside Invitational at Point Loma in San Diego this weekend. The Gators are scheduled to play Point Loma, Concordia and Simon Fraser.
