Jenna Patton, a middle blocker from CSU San Bernardino, has been voted as CCAA Offensive Player of the Week, for the first week of the 2022 season.
Patton, who was named the Magic Island Classic MVP, amassed 48 kills with 14 assisted blocks to account for 59 points for the No. 7 ranked Yotes. CSUSB went 4-0 in the opening weekend tournament in Honolulu.
The junior from Redlands had just five attacking errors on 118 attempts for a .364 hitting percentage. Her 48 kills in 16 sets equal 3.0 kills per set. She also contributed with 21 digs and four service aces in four matches.
Patton began the year with 13 kills, six blocks, in the Yotes’ five-set win over 25th ranked Chaminade. Patton smashed 14 more kills and three blocks in the four-set win over Hawaii Hilo Friday evening. On Saturday, she pounded nine kills without an error, hitting .692, against Hawaii Pacific before finishing the weekend with 12 more spikes to help the team beat #21 Lewis.
Patton had three double-digit kill matches to start the season. In 2021, Patton had a total of four double-digit kill contests.
CSUSB will next play in the Cal State LA Invitational this weekend with matches against Seattle Pacific, Biola and Central Washington.
