Cal State San Marcos freshman Diana Delgado led her team to victory over No. 1 ranked Lynn, earning her the honor as this week’s CCAA Women’s Golfer of the Week.

Delgado won the CSUSM Fujikura Invite as the only player to shoot under par with an one-under 143 score in the two-round tournament at Shadowridge Country Club.

The freshman from West Covina led the 13th ranked Cougars to the tournament team victory by collectively tallying 18-over 594, three strokes better than top-ranked Lynn University. It was CSUSM’s third tournament win this season.

Delgado scored a tournament low 70 to open play on Monday before a 73 in Tuesday’s round. She won by two strokes ahead of second place Alice Gotbring of Barry University.

This was Delgado’s second CCAA Women’s Golfer of the Week award. She was named the conference’s top player for Sept. 8-14 after finishing second at the PLNU Sea Lion Invitational.

CSUSM plays next at the Eagle Invitational, hosted by Biola, at the Grand Del Mar in San Diego.
