Cal State East Bay’s Drishti Karumbaya was the top CCAA finisher at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout, earning her this week’s Women’s Golfer of the Week honor.
Karumbaya finished second overall with a score of 142, shooting an even 72 in Round two on Tuesday. The Mysore, India, native was tied for first-place entering Day 2, after shooting a 70 (-2) in Round 1 on Monday.
Karumbaya finished just one stroke behind first-place winner Claire Shubin of Dominican (141, -3).
Cal State East Bay finished second with a 590 team score, one shot off first place Sonoma State (589). CSUEB was the host of the Pioneer Shootout, held at Corica Park Golf Course in Alameda, Calif.
This is Karumbaya’s second CCAA Women’s Golfer of the Week award. She shared the weekly honor with Cal State San Marcos junior Breann Horn on Sept. 29, after winning the RJGA Shootout in Goodyear, Ariz.
The Pioneers take part in the women’s CSUSM Fujikura Invitational next week in San Marcos.
