Cal State Monterey Bay’s Liam Allder is selected as the CCAA Men’s Golfer of the Week after winning the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout on Tuesday.
Allder, a freshman from Sundsvall, Sweden, shot an impressive 9-under 207 for medalist honors at the tournament held at Alameda’s Corcia Golf Complex’s South Course.
Cal State East Bay’s Ananjan Kaushik had finished tied for first with Allder after 54 holes of play. However, Allder won the first playoff hole with a par while Kaushik bogeyed.
Cal State Monterey Bay won the team championship with an 18-under 846 tally, six shots better than second place Cal State San Bernardino. The 846 is CSUMB’s second lowest tournament score recorded in program history.
Allder recorded a 67 to open play on Monday followed by a 72 in the afternoon’s round two. He then shot a 68 on Tuesday for the 207 scorecard.
Allder is the first CSUMB player to earn the Golfer of the Week award this season.
