Daytone Jennings nearly scored 30 points twice to earn this week’s CCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award, for the week of Feb. 21-27.
Jennings powered Cal State San Bernardino to two wins to clinch the CCAA regular season championship and the No. 1 seed in this week’s CCAA Basketball Tournament powered by Under Armour.
The senior forward averaged 27.5 points and 11 rebounds per game and shot 65 percent from the field (24 for 37).
Jennings put up 29 points (76 percent, 13 of 17) and grabbed nine rebounds at San Francisco State Thursday. Then on Saturday at Cal State Monterey Bay, he recorded a double-double with 26 points and 13 rebounds.
Jennings is the third different CSUSB player to earn this weekly award. A Yote has been named the Player of the Week six times in 2021-22.
The Battle Creek, Mich. product leads the CCAA in rebounding at 9.6 per game. He’s second in the conference in field goal percentage (.523), behind teammate Darius Mickens.
CSUSB is the top seed in the CCAA BasketbalL Tournament powered by Under Armour and will have a first round bye until facing either Cal State Dominguez Hills or Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday.
