Cal State East Bay’s Jasmin Krishna was named the CCAA Women’s Golfer of the Week after leading the Pioneers to winning their own tournament.
Krishna, a freshman from Pleasanton, was the only player to shoot an under par score to win the two-round Women’s Bay Area Invitational. The Pioneers were victorious in the six-team tournament held at the Calippe Preserve Golf Course.
Krishna shot a 72 on Monday and 73 on Tuesday for the 1-under par tally. She won the event by seven strokes as her teammate Caroline Berge came in second at six-over. Holy Names’ Ebba Wernered also shot a six-over.
It was Krishna’s first collegiate win in her second tournament this season.
Cal State East Bay won the team trophy easily with a 27-over 611 score. Holy Names was second at 55-over.
The Pioneers host another tournament next week, Feb. 28-March 1, at Alameda’s Corica Park South Course.
