360 earn a place on the 2021 CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll

Student-athletes across the CCAA excelled on the court and in the classroom when they returned to competition in fall 2021. An impressive 360 men and women of at least sophomore athletic standing posted grade-point averages of at least 3.3 to earn their place on the 2021 CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll.
 
The 360 selections are the second-most in conference history for the fall, topped only by 426 in 2020. Every university had at least 21 student-athletes earn their way to the honor roll. Cal Poly Humboldt led the way with 42 selections, followed closely by Cal State Monterey Bay with 41. Cal State San Marcos (39), San Francisco State (32), and Cal State LA (31) rounded out the top 5.

Of the 360 honorees, 253 were making a repeat appearance, with 21 making the grade in each year of eligibility. Cal State San Marcos led the way here, with 27 of their 39 student-athletes earning a repeat selection.
 
Fourteen student-athletes, representing nine schools and four sports, registered perfect 4.0 grade-point averages: Abby Borg (Cal Poly Humboldt women's soccer), Byley Burton-Tauzer (Cal Poly Humboldt women's soccer), Niki Clark (Cal Poly Humboldt women's soccer), Maya Davis (Cal Poly Humboldt women's soccer), Dylan DeBaldo (Cal State Dominguez Hills men's soccer), Shelby Grubbs (Cal State LA volleyball), Micah Hebert (Cal State San Marcos volleyball), Makayla Jones (Cal State San Marcos women's cross country), Gretta Kirkby (Chico State volleyball), Jaydn Marquis-Bush (Stanislaus State women's soccer), Ashley O'Toole (Cal State Monterey Bay women's cross country), Sarah Paquette (Cal Poly Humboldt women's soccer), Kaili Scott (Cal State San Bernardino volleyball), Riley Spitzer (Cal State East Bay women's soccer).
 
Women's soccer paced among the sports with 140 total selections, followed by volleyball with 85. Men's soccer comes in next with 72. Men's cross country and women's cross country complete the list with 29 and 34 student-athletes, respectively. The CCAA recognizes individuals academically per season – fall, winter and spring – for all CCAA sponsored sports. The CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll consists of eligible student-athletes who compete in the sports of men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer and volleyball. The Winter Academic Honor Roll will honor men's and women's basketball players, with the Spring Academic Honor Roll consisting of student-athletes from men's and women's golf, men's and women's track and field, softball and baseball. The remainder of the seasonal academic selections will be announced at the conclusion of the spring term after grades are finalized.

To be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must be of sophomore standing athletically at the start of the playing season and may include graduate students, shall have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.3, and shall have competed in the sport in that season.
