CSUSB guard Darius Mickens earns his second Player of the Week nod

For the second time in three weeks, Cal State San Bernardino’s Darius Mickens has earned the Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award. This time for his two-game performances during the week of Jan. 24-31.

Mickens nearly averaged a double-double with 18.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game as he led the No. 3-ranked Yotes to their 10th straight win with a pair of victories.

In the win over Cal State East Bay, Mickens put-up 20 points and pulled 14 rebounds with four assists. He shot 55 percent from the floor, going 6 of 11 and made 2 of 3 three-point tries. Mickens was 6-for-6 from the foul line.
Saturday at Cal State Dominguez Hills, the junior guard from Willis, Texas, scored 16 points with five rebounds and two steals. He was 4-for-8 from the field and 8-for-12 from the free throw line.

Mickens leads the CCAA with a .644 field goal percentage, well ahead of teammate Daytone Jennings’ .495 percentage in second.

Mickens was the CCAA player of the week for Jan. 10-16 after averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds on the road at Sonoma State and Humboldt.

The Yotes, now 16-1, 10-1 CCAA, take their 10-game winning streak on the road at Stanislaus State and Chico State this week.
