Alli McDonald’s career week led to three Sonoma State wins and Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award

Alli McDonald had a tremendous all-around week as she led Sonoma State to three wins to earn this week’s CCAA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award.

McDonald averaged 17.7 points, 12.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.0 steals a game in three contests during the week of Dec. 5-11. Sonoma State posted a non-conference win over Academy of Art and two one-point conference victories over Stanislaus State and Chico State. For the week, she shot 50 percent (17-for-34) and made 6 of 11 three-point tries and only missed one free throw (13-for-14).

The sophomore forward’s career game game on Thursday against Stanislaus State when she scored 29 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and dished five assists. McDonald shot 75 percent from the floor on 9 of 12 shooting with two three-pointers and nailed 9 of 10 free throws for her big game. She came just one point shy of being the first SSU player to score 30+ points with 15 rebounds. McDonald converted on four critical free throws with seconds remaining in the Seawolves’ narrow win over the Warriors.

McDonald, who is from Diamond Springs, scored 12 points with 12 rebounds last Tuesday against Academy of Art. On Saturday versus Chico State, she netted 12 points with 11 boards.

Sonoma State won’t see game action the rest of this calendar year and will next host Cal Poly Humboldt on New Year’s Day, Sunday, Jan. 1 at 1 p.m.
