Taylor Miche, Cal State East Bay libero, selected as Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week

Cal State East Bay libero Taylor Miche has been selected as the CCAA Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, for the week of Oct. 31-Nov. 6, after assisting the Pioneers to two wins and a tournament berth.

Miche posted two 20-dig matches to tally 47 digs, to average 5.22 digs per set, with seven assists and three aces.

The sophomore from Spokane, Wash., had 22 digs in Thursday’s win over Sonoma State and added a career-high 25 more digs Saturday against Cal Poly Humboldt. It was her fourth and fifth 20-dig match this season. Miche added five assists and three service aces against the Lumberjacks.

The victories helped Cal State East Bay secure the No. 4 seed in the upcoming CCAA volleyball tournament, which begins on Thursday at Cal State San Marcos. The Pioneers will open against Sonoma State Thursday in the second quarterfinal match at 5:30 p.m.
