Cal Poly Pomona fell in straight sets to the No. 8 seed Chaminade 29-27, 25-17, and 25-21 in the semifinals of the NCAA West Regional. (Nov. 18)

Four Silverswords (26-7) had eight or more kills in the three-set match, including Sophie Schilling, who hit .643 with nine kills and no errors in 14 attempts. Sasha Colombo led the way with a match-best 11 kills. Ajack Malual and Lataisia Saulala added eight apiece.

Daisy Duke paced No. 4 seed Cal Poly Pomona (24-6) with nine kills. It was only the sixth time in 30 matches Duke did not reach double-figures in kills. Avery Percival posted five aces to go along with her match-high 18 digs.

The first set was the battle everyone would expect from a showdown between two of the region's top teams. Both teams went back and forth until a 4-0 spurt by Chaminade tied the match at 21-21. CPP answered with three straight points to reach game-point at 24-21. The Silverswords proved they would not go quickly. They tied the match at 24-24, took the lead at 26-25, and never gave it back. After Cal Poly Pomona was at game-point, Chaminade outscored them 8-3 to win the first set.

The Silverswords carried that momentum into the second set as they jumped out to a 10-5 lead and would never trail again. CPP cut its deficit to 20-14, but it would get no closer.

The third set also went Chaminade's way from the start. It scored the first six points of the set and never trailed. A late 8-3 run by CPP had the Broncos trailing by just two at 23-21, but the last two points and the match went to the Silverswords.

The Broncos end their season at 24-6 and as the 2022 CCAA Tournament Championships. Chaminade will move to Saturday's championship match, where it will face the winner of No. 3 Cal State LA and No. 7 Central Washington.
