Kaitlan Tucker of Cal Poly Pomona has earned this week’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week award, for the week of Sept. 26-Oct. 2.
Tucker, the NCAA Division II leader in blocks, led the Broncos to two more wins as No. 17 Cal Poly Pomona extended its winning streak to 14 matches.
The middle blocker from Bakersfield posted nine total blocks in six sets in the team’s wins over Cal State East Bay and Cal State San Marcos. Against CSUEB, Tucker also had eight kills on 13 swings without an error (.615 attacking percentage) to go with four blocks (one solo). The junior then put-away a season-high 11 kills (.333) versus CSUSM with five assisted blocks.
Tucker currently leads Division II with 1.48 blocks per set. She is also fifth in the CCAA with a .323 hitting percentage.
Cal Poly Pomona will make the short drive to take on No. 15 Cal State San Bernardino on Friday before hosting the Yotes on Saturday.
