Sonoma State’s Kaden Young has been named the CCAA Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, for the week of Oct. 24-30, after helping the Seawolves to two upset wins.
Young keyed the defensive efforts in the team’s wins over No. 22 Cal Poly Pomona and No. 14 Cal State San Bernardino with 31 total digs in the two matches. She posted 15 digs with two service aces versus the Broncos and followed with 16 digs against the Yotes.
The freshman libero from Phoenix, Ariz., is ranked sixth in the conference with 290 digs. Her 3.77 digs per set average is eighth best.
Sonoma State has won four straight matches and has moved into a tie for fourth place at 11-5 in CCAA competition. The Seawolves close out the regular season on the road, at Cal State East Bay and Cal State San Marcos.
