Cal Poly Humboldt’s Nick Brichta selected as Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week

Cal Poly Humboldt’s Nick Brichta led the Lumberjacks at the Charles Bowles Invitational, earning him the Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week honor for the week of Sept. 26-Oct. 2.

Brichta finished fourth overall and was the top collegiate runner with a time of 24:30.8 at the event hosted by Willamette in Salem, Ore. His mile split time was 4:55.9. Brichta, a graduate student from Bayside, finished behind three unattached runners.

Cal Poly Humboldt finished fourth in the team standings behind Portland, Eastern Oregon and Oregon Tech.

Brichta is the first Humboldt runner to earn this weekly award since Oct. 7, 2019.

The Jacks will have a week off competition before returning to the course at the Santa Clara Bronco Invite on October 15.
