Stanislaus State’s Jocelyn Lopez has been voted the CCAA/Pixellot Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award for the week of Oct. 24-27.

The senior played all 90 minutes in the Warriors’ 2-1 comeback win as Stanislaus State was crowned the CCAA co-champions.

Cal State East Bay scored a goal in the 22nd minute to take the early lead, but Lopez and the Warriors’ defense held them scoreless the rest of the way to give the team an opportunity for a come-from-behind victory. The Pioneers had just five shots the rest of the way.

Meanwhile, Stanislaus State tied the game in the 61st minute and took the lead in the 87th minute to earn the program’s first CCAA championship since 2013.

Lopez is the second Stanislaus State student-athlete to earn a CCAA/Pixellot Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week award in 2022. She joins teammate Alexia Estrada who captured the honor for the week of Oct. 10-16.

With its win, Stanislaus State earned a first-round bye in the upcoming CCAA Women's Soccer Tournament. They will face the winner of the No. 3 seed, Cal State LA, and the No. 6 seed, Cal Poly Pomona, on Friday, Nov. 4, in Rohnert Park.
