Cal State Dominguez Hills’ Frank Aguilar was named the CCAA/Pixellot Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 24-27.

With the 2022 CCAA men’s soccer regular-season championship on the line, Aguilar stepped up to post a 3-0 shutout of fourth-place Cal State Monterey Bay. 

Aguilar made three saves and prevented all eight shots by the Otters from finding the back of the net. It was his fourth shutout of the season as the Toros tied for the conference lead with 10 shutouts. 

His effort in goal helped the Toros to finish the regular season undefeated and capture their first CCAA regular-season title since 2015. 

Aguilar is the fourth Cal State Dominguez Hills student-athlete to earn CCAA/Pixellot Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week in 2022. He joins David Aguilera (AUg. 29-Sept. 4), Zane Baumgardt (Sept. 5-11) and Sebastian Ascencio (Sept. 19-25).

In addition to winning the CCAA Championship, the Toros also captured a first-round bye in the upcoming CCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament. Cal State Dominguez Hills will face the winner of No. 4 Cal State Monterey Bay and No. 5 Chico State on Friday, Nov. 4, in San Bernardino.
