Stan State libero Gabby Rawson digs up second Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week award

CCAA digs leader Gabby Rawson has dug up another Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week award after another stellar weekend.

The junior from Rancho Cucamonga posted 47 digs and averaged 5.22 digs per set in two matches to lead the Warriors to two wins, earning her the award for the week of Oct. 17-23.

Rawson picked up 16 digs to go with four service aces and two assists on Thursday at Cal State East Bay. Two nights later at Cal State San Marcos, she recorded 31 digs with four assists against the Cougars. Her 31-dig performance was the second best in a match in the CCAA this season. Rawson had 32 digs on Oct. 15 to help Stan State upset Cal State San Bernardino.

Rawson leads the conference with 444 digs and 4.93 digs per set. This is her second defensive player of the week award this season.

Stanislaus State has won three straight — and six of its last seven — matches and has moved into a tie for fifth place in the CCAA standings at 9-5 (18-6 overall). The Warriors play a pair of road matches at Cal State Monterey Bay and San Francisco State.
