Cal Poly Pomona’s Caitie Mueller wins fourth Volleyball Setter of the Week award

For the second consecutive week and the fourth time this season, Cal Poly Pomona’s Caitie Mueller has been selected as the CCAA Volleyball Setter of the Week. 

Mueller averaged 13.71 assists per set to lead the Broncos to a split. The sophomore setter tallied 96 assists with 20 digs, three service aces and two errors. She also had four kills.

On Friday, Mueller had 43 assists in the three-set thriller loss to Cal State LA. She added nine digs and four kills against the Golden Eagles. The following night against Cal State Dominguez Hills, Mueller, who is from San Clemente, recorded a double-double with 53 assists and 11 digs. The 53-assist performance was her second-best this season (she had 55 on Sept. 9 at Cal State Monterey Bay).

Mueller ranks second in the conference with 720 assists and 10.59 assists per set. She had previous won the weekly award in back-to-back weeks from Sept. 5 to Sept. 18 and last week, for Oct. 10-16.

Cal Poly Pomona is now 11-3 in CCAA, tied for second in standings with CSUSB. The No. 22 ranked Broncos travel to face Sonoma State (Thursday) and Cal Poly Pomona (Saturday).
