Cal State LA’s Liliana Gonzalez has been named the CCAA/Pixellot Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 10-16.

The sophomore forward accounted for all three goals last week as the Golden Eagles won two matches and moved into a tie atop the CCAA standings. They are now undefeated in their last eight contests.

On Friday against Sonoma State, Gonzalez gave Cal State LA the early lead with a goal in the fourth minute after she collected a rebound and deposited it in the net. She extended the Golden Eagles’ lead early in the second half when she drilled a shot from just inside the box to the far post. It was just the second victory for Cal State LA over Sonoma State in the last 10 matchups.

The Sun Valley native accounted for the only goal in Sunday’s 1-0 win over San Francisco State. Just like her first goal on Friday, Gonzalez was in the right place at the right time. With only 12 minutes remaining, she collected a loose ball at the top of the box and hit a hard shot inside the far post for her team-leading fourth goal of the season.

She is now tied for the conference lead with three game-winning goals. She is also ninth in points (9) and tied for seventh in goals.

Gonzalez is the third recipient of a CCAA/Pixellot weekly award this season for the Golden Eagles but the first to earn Offensive Player of the Week honors. She joins Areli Reyes (Aug. 25-28) and Thaiz Hernandez (Sept. 26-Oct. 2), who both earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Cal State LA will be on the road this week to face Stanislaus State (Oct. 21) and Cal State East Bay (Oct. 23).
