Kara Green of Cal State East Bay earns Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week

An attacker who contributed greatly on defense, Cal State East Bay’s Kara Green has snagged this week’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week award.

Green, the winner for the week of Oct. 10-16, recorded 31 digs with five assisted blocks in leading the Pioneers to two key victories last weekend. Green, an opposite side hitter, also had 26 kills (.361) for two double-double nights. She added two assists and a service ace. 

Versus San Francisco State on Thursday, the junior from Cerritos spiked 10 kills with 13 digs and a block to help CSUEB defeat the Gators. Saturday evening Green picked up 18 digs to go with 16 kills and four assisted blocks to pace the Pioneers over Cal State Monterey Bay.

Cal State East Bay has won four straight to move into a tie for third place with CSUSB with a 9-3 CCAA record. The Pioneers (16-4 overall) host Stanislaus State and Chico State this weekend.
