Cal Poly Pomona’s Caitie Mueller picks up third Volleyball Setter of the Week award

For the third time this season, Cal Poly Pomona’s Caitie Mueller has been selected as the CCAA Volleyball Setter of the Week. This time for the week of Oct. 10-16.

Mueller averaged 11.29 assists per set in leading the No. 18 ranked Broncos to two more road victories last week with wins at Stanislaus State and Chico State. The sophomore setter amassed 79 assists with 10 kills, 12 digs and 7 service aces.

On Friday, Mueller notched a double-double with 47 assists and 11 digs in a battle at Stan State. She also served four aces in the four-set match. The next night in Chico, Mueller set the offense that broke a program record. Against the Wildcats, the Broncos set the CPP record for highest hitting percent in a match of .656. That mark is also the highest recorded this season in Division II.

Mueller, who is from San Clemente, currently sits second in the CCAA with 10.23 assists per set. She previously won this weekly honor in back-to-back weeks from Sept. 5 to Sept. 18.

Cal Poly Pomona puts its 10-2 conference record (second in standings) to the test this Friday when the Broncos host CCAA-leading Cal State LA.
