Taylor Stewart was the top CCAA golfer at the WWU Invitational as the Chico State Wildcat has earned the Women’s Golfer of the Week award.

Stewart finished tied for second at the event at Bellingham Golf and Country Club in Bellingham, Wash. She shot a one-over par 145 for her best collegiate finish.

Stewart’s performance was just one stroke shy of the lowest two-round score in Chico State program history, when Emily Rotter posted a 144 in September, 2015.

The junior from Oakdale scored a 71 on Monday, a round that included four birdies. On Tuesday, Stewart had a brief lead atop of the leaderboard before Dominican’s Clarie Shubin surged ahead with a tournament low-round score of 69 to win by four strokes.

Stewart is Chico State’s first Women’s Golfer of the Week winner since the award’s inception at the start of the 2017-18 season.

Chico State women’s golf concluded its fall season and will resume its schedule in February.
