Chase Worthen from Cal State East Bay runs her way to Cross Country Runner of the Week award

Chase Worthen led the Pioneers at the SF State Invitational, earning her the Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week honor for the week of Oct. 10- Oct. 16.

Worthen finished second overall and was the top Division II runner in the 6K race with a time of 21:35.4. She is the first Pioneer to win this award since September of 2019.

The senior from Sacramento paced the Cal State East Bay women's cross-country team to second place among 11 teams in the SF State Invitational at Golden Gate Park. The Pioneers finished behind Concordia by one point, 57-58. 

The Pioneers run one more regular season meet in 2022 – the NCAA D2 Pre-Nationals, which takes place on Saturday, Oct. 22 at Chambers Creek Regional Park in University Place, Wash.
