SF State’s Tamiya Wilson dominated as Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week

With dominant performances, Tamiya Wilson of San Francisco State has earned the award as the Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, for the week of Oct. 3-9.

Wilson pounded away 41 kills, including a career-best 25 on Thursday, to lead the Gators to two victories over Cal State Monterey Bay. The right-side hitter averaged 5.86 kills per set in seven sets played and scored 41.5 points. She also had 19 digs to go with her totals.

In Thursday’s four-set win, Wilson went 25 for 61 with eight errors (.279) with 12 digs for a double-double. Her 25 kills is the second most in a match, and the best in a four-set match, posted by a CCAA player this season. On Saturday, Wilson put-away another 16 kills (16-4-38, .316) with seven digs and an assisted block to pace SF State.

Wilson, a true freshman from Temecula, leads the conference in kills with 3.89 per set and is second with 4.16 points per set.
San Francisco State will continue a stretch of five contests on the road with matches at Cal State East Bay Thursday and Cal State San Marcos on Saturday.
