Cal Poly Pomona’s Leandro Candray earns the title of Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week

Leandro Candray led the team for the second straight race, earning him this week’s CCAA Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week honor.

Candray paced the No. 20-ranked Cal Poly Pomona men's cross-country team to a second-place finish Saturday morning at the 13th Annual Pomona-Pitzer Invitational in Claremont.

The sophomore from Temecula clocked a 24:48.8 on the course and finished a little over five seconds behind the race champion. His overall second-place finish is his second in three races this season.

Cal Poly Pomona will look ahead to NCAA D2 Pre-Nationals in two weeks on Oct. 22 as a preview of the NCAA Division II National Championships course.
