Cal Poly Pomona's Duke is CCAA Volleyball Player of the Week

Cal Poly Pomona sophomore Daisy Duke, who led the Broncos to a 3-0 start, has been named CCAA Volleyball Player of the Week, for the week of Aug. 30-Sept. 5.

The opposite side hitter from Rancho Cucamonga torched opposing defenses as she spiked 34 kills (3.80 kills per set) with just three errors in 62 attempts during Cal Poly Pomona’s own Broncos Fall Classic.

Duke posted a sizzling hitting percentage of .500 in three matches, including a .621 attacking percentage Saturday night against Concordia Irvine. It was also against the Eagles of CUI when she put away 19 kills with five digs and three assisted blocks.

Her defensive totals for the weekend were six assisted blocks with a block solo and seven digs.

Cal Poly Pomona handed Concordia Irvine its first loss and posted wins over Western New Mexico and Western Oregon.

The Broncos remain home this weekend, co-hosting the SoCal Freeway Challenge with three other schools, starting with a Thursday night match against Point Loma Nazarene.
