Horn, Karumbaya share Women's Golfer of the Week honors

Breann Horn of Cal State San Marcos and Cal State East Bay’s Drishti Karumbaya tied for first place at the RJGA Shootout as the pair have been named co-Golfers of the Week for Women’s Golf.

Horn and Karumbaya each shot 1-under 143, tying Point Loma’s Raquel Prado atop of the leaderboard. The tournament was hosted by Western New Mexico at Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Ariz.

Horn, a junior from Lakeside, shot 2-under par on Tuesday to follow her 70 round one score to lead the Cougars to a team victory (+22, 598). The 20th ranked CSUSM Cougars also won their previous outing at the PLNU Sea Lion Invite.

Karumbaya, a senior from Mysore, India, scored a 68 on Monday before finishing with a 75 round two for her tally. Cal State East Bay finished fifth at +34, 610.

The trio of leaders went into playoffs with Horn exiting after the first hole. Prado prevailed on the seventh hole to edge Karumbaya to earn tournament medalist honor.

Sonoma State (4th), Cal State LA (6th) and Chico State (12th) were the other CCAA teams to participate in the tournament.

The next tournament for most CCAA teams is the Sonoma State Invitational, Oct. 4-5, in Santa Rosa.
