Chico State’s Tyler Ashman was the CCAA leader at the WWU Invitational as he’s been named the Men’s Golfer of the Week.
Ashman finished tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard with a 3-over 147 to lead the Chico State Wildcats to a tournament victory at the Loomis Trails Golf Club in Blaine, Wash.
Chico State tallied 596 to win by two strokes over Montana State Billings in the rain-shortened tournament.
Ashman shot a 77 in Monday’s round as the event was cut short to 18 holes on day one due to heavy rain. The junior from Clovis shot a two-under 70 on Tuesday to help the Wildcats rally. Ashman shared the low-round score of 70 with Hawaii Hilo’s Andrew Otani. It was Ashman’s second lowest round score of his collegiate career.
Chico State next hosts the Wildcat Classic, Oct. 11-12, at the Links at Rolling Hills in Corning.
