SSU's Zandonella-Arasa picked as Women's Soccer Player of the Week

Lexi Zandonella-Arasa of Sonoma State is selected the CCAA Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, for the week of Sept. 20-26, after scoring two game-winning goals to lead the Seawolves to two more wins.

Zandonella-Arasa scored the first of two goals in a 2-0 road win at Azusa Pacific on Wednesday and netted the second goal of a 3-1 home victory over San Francisco State on Saturday.

At Azusa, the freshman from Concord got the 15th-ranked Seawolves on the board in the 18th minute with her first collegiate goal. APU was 5-1 prior to being shutout by SSU. In Saturday’s non-conference match against SF State, the midfielder gave the Seawolves a 2-0 lead in the 12th minute that eventually became the game-winner while Sonoma State improved to 5-1.

Zandonella-Arasa is the second Seawolve to earn the player of the week award this season. Molly Murphy received the honor for Aug. 30-Sept. 5.

Sonoma State begins its CCAA schedule on Friday when the Seawolves host Cal Poly Pomona.
