San Francisco State’s Izzy Issak has earned the CCAA Volleyball Player of the Week award, for the week of Sept. 20-26, after leading the Gators to two more wins last weekend.
Issak contributed all over the floor in helping SF State to a win over Cal State Dominguez Hills and an impressive five-set victory over Cal State LA. The Gators are now a program-best 10-1 to start the season.
Issak, an outside hitter, tallied 23 kills, 10 digs, three total blocks and two aces in two matches. In all, accounting for 26.5 points.
The sophomore from Los Gatos had a career-high 13 kills on .321 hitting in a start over the Toros on Friday. She also had nine digs and two service aces against CSUDH. Then, during the Gators’ five-set thriller over LA on Saturday, Issak posted 10 kills and assisted on three blocks.
Cal State LA had won seven straight matches, including a forfeit win on Friday, prior to Saturday’s contest at San Francisco.
Issak and the SF State Gators will travel to Arcata to take on Humboldt State on Thursday to resume CCAA play.
