CCAA leading scorer Paul Henschke continues to lead the team as the Broncos forward was named the CCAA Men’s Soccer Player of the Week, for the week of Sept. 20-26.
Henschke’s lone score in the 11th minute was enough to carry Cal Poly Pomona to a 1-0 win over Cal State LA in a non-conference match on Saturday. The win propelled the Broncos to make their debut on the United Soccer Coaches Association Top 25 poll at No. 25.
The sophomore from Berlin, Germany, fired off a shot into the near post from the top of the 18-yard box as part of the CPP offense which controlled the match in the first half.
Henschke has scored in four of the six matches this season and he leads the CCAA with six goals. He is the second consecutive Bronco to win this weekly award.
Cal Poly Pomona travels to Sonoma State on Friday to open conference play.
