Madison Parsons posted a hat-trick in three minutes and four seconds of play as the Chico State forward was named the CCAA Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, for the week of Sept. 12-19.
Parsons’ three goals within 184 seconds of play was the fastest in Chico State women’s soccer history as she led the Wildcats to a 4-1 win over Fresno Pacific on Saturday. The Wildcats also beat Holy Names, 10-0 on Sept. 13.
The three-goal effort is the 12th in Chico State women’s soccer history and the first since 2006. Parsons is the eighth Chico State player to score a hat-trick.
After subbing into the contest in the 28th minute of the match against FPU, Parsons started her scoring spree about four minutes later. The sophomore from Shingle Springs one-timed the pass from Kelli Litchfield over the keeper and into the top shelf for her first score. Just 18 seconds later, Parsons knocked in a left-footer past the goalkeeper from the 6-yard box for her second goal. After a mad scramble at the net, Parsons got her foot on a bouncing ball and poked it in to complete her hat-trick in 3:04.
Perhaps Parsons was making up for lost time. So far, her collegiate career has consisted of a redshirt season, two knee surgeries and a season lost to COVID-19.
Chico State, now 4-1, will travel to Arcata for a non-conference match at Humboldt State on Saturday.
Also Nominated:
Mia Castaneda, Humboldt State
Majae De Leon, Cal State East Bay
