Vidalia Abarca tallied five points in three matches to lead Cal State San Bernardino as the forward was named the CCAA Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 6-12.

She scored a goal in each of the Coyotes’ two victories earlier in the week as they defeated Cal State LA on Labor Day and Concordia on Wednesday. Abarca also had the assist in Wednesday’s LA comeback win over CUI.

Abarca, a sophomore from Santa Ana, scored the match’s only goal last Monday in Los Angeles. Her score in the 28th minute held up for the CSUSB win. In Wednesday’s match at Concordia in Irvine, she helped the Yotes in a huge comeback win.

Abarca set up the equalizer with an assist in the 85th minute to force overtime, then scored the game-winner in the 91st minute for the team’s thrilling sudden victory.

Cal State San Bernardino completed a busy week with a 2-0 loss on Saturday versus Azusa Pacific.

CSUSB next hosts St. Edward’s on Friday at Premier Field.
