Runner of the Week honor goes to CSUSM's Laurenzana

Renee Laurenzana was the top CCAA athlete to cross the finish line as the junior from Cal State San Marcos earned the CCAA Runner of the Week honors, for the week of Sept. 6-12.

Laurenzana clocked 18:19.9 to finish sixth in the 5K race at the Biola Invitational, as she led the Cougars to a team victory with 47 points, ahead of host Biola and 12 other teams. 

This was CSUSM’s second consecutive title win at the Biola Invitational.

Laurenzana, a San Diego State transfer from Escondido, was one of three Cougars to finish in the top nine in the meet held at the Ted Craig Regional Park in Fullerton.

Cal Poly Pomona also competed in this event and the Broncos finished fifth.

Next on the schedule for CSUSM is its own Cougar Challenge on Sept. 25. The meet is also a preview meet for the CCAA Cross Country Championships on Oct. 23.
