CSUSB'S Knapper repeats as Men's Basketball Player of the Week

Cal State San Bernardino guard Brandon Knapper scored 60 points in two games to earn a second consecutive CCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award, this time for the week of Nov. 29-Dec. 5.

Knapper scored 28 points in the Yotes’ loss on Thursday to Chico State before following up with a 32-point performance to lead 11th-ranked CSUSB over Stanislaus State on Saturday. He shot 50 percent from the field to average 30 points a game and also chipped in 2.5 rebounds and three assists per contest.

Against Chico State, Knapper was 6 of 15 from the field with two three-pointers against the 8th-ranked Wildcats in the 99-90 game. He was 14 of 16 at the free throw line that afternoon. It was CSU San Bernardino’s first loss of the season.

Two days later, back in the Coussoulis Arena, Knapper shot 59 percent, going 10 of 17 from the field and made 6 of 10 three-pointers to lift CSUSB over Stan State, 87-72. The junior from Ontario also made all six foul shots against the Warriors.

Knapper continues to lead the CCAA in scoring, averaging 24.8 points per game, more than six points better than CSUSM’s Blake Seits. He also leads the league with 3.8 three-pointers per game and is fifth in field goal percentage (50.8).

The Yotes take a break from conference action with a tilt against Bethesda on Saturday in The Den at CSUSB.
