Jaden Edwards averaged a double-double in two victories last week to earn CCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 6-12.
Edwards opened the week with a 41-point, 10-rebound performance in a home win against Simpson. The junior guard went 18-for-23 from the field, with two 3-pointers to post the best single-game scoring performance in the CCAA this season in just 27 minutes.
The Portland native followed that game with 11 points and 17 rebounds in a 66-53 conference win at Stanislaus State. The 17 rebounds also give Edwards the best single-game performance in the CCAA during the 2021-22 campaign.
Edwards now leads the CCAA in rebounding (10.4) and is second in scoring (19.3 ppg). He is one of only two CCAA student-athletes averaging a double-double. He is sixth in the country with six double-doubles and 16th in rebounding.
With the victories, Humboldt State moves to 7-2 on the season. The Lumberjacks will play Chico State (Dec. 18) and Sonoma State (Dec. 20) before taking a competition hiatus until Jan. 2.
