CSUSB's Knapper shoots his way to Player of the Week honor

Cal State San Bernardino guard Brandon Knapper continues to score at a high pace as he has been named the CCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, for the week of Nov. 22-28.

Knapper led the 19th-ranked Coyotes to a 83-62 win over No. 11 Cal Poly Pomona in the marquee match-up to open the CCAA season on Saturday. The junior from Ontario scored 23 points with two rebounds, three assists, and two steals in the victory.

Against Westcliff last Wednesday, he added 22 points to lead the Yotes to a 94-64 win. He also had three steals and two rebounds.

Knapper has led CSUSB in scoring in five of six games and currently leads the CCAA in scoring with 23.6 points per game and 4.2 three-pointers per contest. He has scored 20 or more points four times, including a CCAA-best 33-point effort on Nov. 13 against Central Washington.

Cal State San Bernardino, the CCAA preseason favorites, improved to 6-0 overall. The Yotes host No. 12 Chico State in another early-season key battle Thursday afternoon.
