SFSU's Jessica Haynie named the AVCA national player of the week

San Francisco State's Jessica Haynie has been named the 2021 Sports Imports/AVCA Division II Volleyball Women's Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 8-14. Haynie is the first CCAA student-athlete to earn this honor since 2019.

Haynie helped lead San Francisco State to a pair of clutch victories as the Gators claimed the No. 3 seed in the upcoming CCAA Volleyball Tournament. Over nine sets, she hammered down 49 kills and averaged 5.44 kills per set while hitting at a .295 clip.

In their win against Cal State San Marcos, Haynie had 26 kills and 10 digs to help the Gators notch the fourth 20-win season in program history. She followed it up with a 23-kill effort against Cal State East Bay as San Francisco State completed a perfect home record in 2021 (16-0). The 26 kills were a season-best.

Haynie is the first San Francisco State student-athlete to be named Sports Imports/AVCA National Player of the Week. UC San Diego's Jessica Rieble was the last student-athlete from the CCAA to win the honor. She collected the award for her performance for the week of Oct. 14-20, 2019. Complete AVCA release
