Jessica Haynie picked up the final CCAA Volleyball Player of the Week honor, for the week of Nov. 8-14, after leading San Francisco State to two important wins last weekend.
Haynie recorded a pair of 20-kills matches to finish with 49 to help the Gators secure the No. 3 seed in the upcoming CCAA Volleyball Tournament. The outside hitter averaged 5.44 kills per set, hitting .295 (49-16-112). The senior from Temecula also had 13 digs, five blocks and three service aces.
Against Cal State San Marcos Friday night, Haynie had 26 kills to help the Gators rally from down 2-0 for a thrilling come-from-behind five-set win. Her 26 kills was the sixth most in a single match in program history. She added 10 digs and four assisted blocks in the contests.
During Saturday’s senior night, Haynie spiked 23 more kills on 50 swings with just five errors (.360) to help SF State beat Cal State East Bay in four sets.
San Francisco State finished the 2021 regular season with a remarkable 16-0 record at home.
Haynie leads the CCAA with 4.45 points per set and ranks second in the conference with 3.82 kills per set, behind only CSUSB’s Alexis Cardoza (3.88).
The Gators will join Cal State San Bernardino, Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State LA, Sonoma State and Cal State San Marcos at the CCAA Volleyball Tournament, which begins on Thursday in San Bernardino.
